In music, the children have been listening to The Firebird by Igor Stravinsky.
They identified the music's main motif and, working together using their listening, playing and counting skills, they managed to play it as a whole-class ensemble. Here is a sound recording of them playing it (which can be downloaded) and a link to the full orchestral performance: https://drive.google.com/file/d/19stiUZbk90XCoy4MNxRyScVMzzUecuDG/view?usp=sharing https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02b5dyd

The 11th of February was Safer Internet Day 2020. Every class had time to learn about how to use technology safely and explore online and offline identify. We all had a great time! Some of us listened to fairytales on audiobooks, some coded computer games, some created artwork based on their identity and others learned about protecting our online identity using stories and role-play. To celebrate National Anti-bullying Week/Friendship Week, at Marsh Lane, we held a Disney themed Friendship Day. The children spent the day going into the different classrooms making different Disney themed crafts. Throughout the day, the children made bookmarks, Christmas tree decorations, fondant icing Olaf's, designed a new outfit for a Disney character, made some Aladdin artwork using paper plates and created some Mickey Mouse paper chain for the display. We also had 2 winners for the best Disney outfit and the winners were Abigail from Year 3 and Oskar from Year 1.
Year 2 have coloured in some poppies ready for Monday when we remember the soldiers and animals that lost their lives. Please walk past the Year 2 classroom and have a look.
