The Explorers
Reception
During Science Investigation day, the Explorers made a planet using bicarbonate of soda, water and paint. They had to predict what would happen when we added vinegar using pipettes. Some predicted it would go hard, some predicted it would go runny like when we added the water and some predicted it would bubble! The children added drops of vinegar and guess what! It was no longer just a planet, but a bubbly planet! For our second experiment, the Explorers had to predict whether raisins would sink or float in a glass of water. Most children predicted it would sink then explode. We then asked them the same question but this time in a glass of lemonade. Once again, most children said it would fizz then sink. Guess what? The raisins did sink in the water but it didn't explode. The raisins did fizz in the lemonade then sink but... it started to float then it sank again, then it floated again. The children were so excited when the raisins kept sinking then floating. They squealed in delight!

The children had a great time on Children in Need day. They decorated a biscuit, collaged a Pudsey bear picture, wrote party invitations and came dressed up in fancy dress or spots. Come and have a look!
We have been learning about fireworks and Bonfire Night. We made some rockets and did some fantastic writing which we put up in the classroom on our new display. Come and have a look!
The reception, year 1 and year 2 children had a surprise visitor on Wednesday afternoon, a fire engine! The firefighters were brilliant with the children and even let them have a go at using the hosepipe!
Today we have been gardening in the reception garden. We took out the weeds, put some new winter flowers in and watered them. Have a look at how nice they look!
