Wow! What a fantastic week of super learning by the Inventors! Here is just a small selection of it! Firstly, week 2's reading challenge has been successfully completed by Bella, Zac and myself! We have all been caught reading! In Literacy, I asked you to create your own Wild West villain and hero. We have received some very interesting characters from Carrot Gunslinger to Granny the Good! Well done Jack, Bella, Emily, Edward, Dexter, Oscar and Zac. In Art, I asked you to have a go at some marbling using shaving foam and food colouring. Emily and her mum had great fun marbling to create a Wild West silhouette picture. In Geography, I asked you to research the different areas in America known for their Wild West past. Some of you used this information to pretend to be on a Wild West holiday. You wrote some very interesting postcards too! In computing, I asked you to make a pictogram to show your family's favourite flavour ice-cream. Jack even included his dog! In Music, I asked you to use recyclable materials to make your own musical instrument. Emily used an empty hot chocolate tin to make a shaker! Well done Emily. Ella has been doing some research into desert climates and how animals and plants survived in the Wild West! Well done Ella, some good research and interesting facts! Some of you became real Wild West cowboys and cowgirls and some of you became Wild West villains! You told us information about yourself using a speech bubble. Finally, some non-screen activities that have been completed this week include a 1,000 piece Polar Express jigsaw completed by Jack and his Dad, Zac has completed 2 Geography themed jigsaws on his own and I finally, finished a 1,000 piece Cotswold Cottages jigsaw (with a little help from my boys!)

This week's challenge is to get caught reading. Choose an unusual but safe place to read a book of your choice and ask a grown-up to take a photograph of you reading your book. We will be using your photographs on a display in the library, so get creative and I look forward to seeing your photographs!
Mrs Womble It's back ...the annual Summer Reading Challenge! This year's theme is called Silly Squad and it's themed around animals.
This year the challenge will be run virtually by the local libraries. It starts on Friday 5th June and will run until the last week of the Summer holidays (so the end of August.) This will give you plenty of time to join in with the reading challenge because you only have to read 6 books to achieve it! If you're not a member of the local library, you can join for free online and then sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge, it's that easy! I have already put a link on the planning but here is the link you need: https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/ Hope some of the Inventors will be up for the Summer Reading Challenge and I look forward to celebrating with you in September. Mrs Womble Please find attached the links to week 2's learning and planning overview. You will also find the links to week 2's planning and resources on the Marsh Lane website under the Inventors tab. Mrs Womble
A great start to our new topic 'The Wild West.' I have received some amazing home learning so keep it up. This week's special mentions are as follows:
*Oscar - A creative and inspiring Tour De Friends with photographs and writing telling me all about his tour (see separate post below.) *Zac - A creative cowboy puppet using a wooden stick and different collage materials (see separate post below.) *Bella - Fantastic research on the desert and some amazing writing to explain what she found out. *Emily - Great use of alternative software to create the lifecycle of a guinea fowl. *Finally, Jack who is the only one to have done some comparative writing based on Woody and Jessie from Toy Story. Amazing handwriting, fantastic use of expanded noun phrases, conjunctions and compare and contrast vocabulary. Mrs Womble Hello Inventors,
I have been receiving some incredible learning from you and I have been awarding team points for your super learning, great understanding and fantastic answers. With us not being in school, I can't give you the team points that I have awarded so... I have set up Class Dojo which means that I can award the team points that you have earned from your super home learning. If you would like to be able to see your child's dojo's that they have earned, send your e-mail address to our enquiries email and I will invite you to our Class Dojo. Mrs Womble In Art this week, I asked you to make a cowboy puppet using a wooden stick and different collage materials. I was really impressed with Zac's cowboy puppet, especially his moustache!
Super work Zac, keep it up! Mrs Womble Oscar has been really busy this half-term completing his very own Tour De Friends! I absolutely love the idea of keeping fit and healthy whilst visiting your friends (safely, of course!) It was lovely to see so many of the Inventors outside their houses, cheering Oscar on. You will see that Oscar not only stayed out for just short of 2 hours but he cycled over 15km! Incredible Oscar.
Not only did Oscar complete his Tour De Friends but he also did some handwritten work too explaining who he visited on his Tour, how long it took him and how much he had cycled. Special mention for the handwritten Oscar. Mrs Womble Emily has been getting creative with her comic strip by using some software on her Dad's computer instead of Purple Mash. Super learning Emily, I love it! Click on the link to see it for yourself! Mrs Womble
Bella's been busy over half-term, baking a delicious looking cake and she has started to make a latch hook rug for her bedroom. She is practising lots of skills whilst doing these fantastic non-screen activities, including:
*Reading the ingredient list and instructions on how to bake her cake *Measuring liquids and weighing ingredients for her cake *Reading and following a chart for her latch hook rug *Counting her stitches for her latch hook rug She's also been busy role-playing a comic strip with her teddies for our Week 5 literacy work and created a comic strip on Purple Mash. Super work Bella, keep it up! Mrs Womble |
