On Tuesday, Year 1 and Year 2 were very lucky to have Mrs Seaman, a Forest School Teacher in to safely demonstrate how quickly fire can spread. This demonstration was part of our Great Fire of London topic. The children had a fire safety talk first, then they burned the tudor houses which were made during the year 2 Inspire morning. After that, they had hot chocolate and even toasted some marshmallows over the fire!

In Art, the children have used different collage materials to create a Great Fire of London themed picture. We have displayed them outside the classroom so feel free to come and have a better look at the fantastic artwork by the Year 2 children.
On Thursday, we had our annual Maths morning. The Year 2 children worked in pairs to add, subtract, divide and multiple to find hidden words using all the different maths methods (concrete objects, pictorial representations, number lines, 100 squares and the written method.) They then had to use the cryptic clues (i.e. the hidden words to work out the hidden message.) The children and the adults had a great time using the methods to find out the answer. |
