In Year 2, the children have been thinking about what type of explorer they would be. They also discussed then wrote where they would go, how they would get there, what they would take with them, who they would go with and what they would see. The children have worked incredibly hard on this handwriting, their punctuation, their use of commas in a list, time conjunctions, conjunctions and contraction words! Amazing work Inventors! So impressed!

Today it's the annual Safer Internet Day 2021 and this year's theme is focusing around the reliability of online information. However, it's still important today to think about how to stay safe online and who you can turn to for help and advice if you are expressing cyberbullying or other online threats that make you feel uncomfortable. The Year 2's have been working on some Safer Internet Day 2021 posters and have also been offering advice on how to stay safe online. I think the Year 2 children are super sensible and have lots of information on how to stay safe online! Well done everyone!
This week's Artist of the Week is Kandinsky. The children used bright colours to recreate Kandinsky's famous painting, Circles. I think they have done a fantastic job!
In reading this week, Year 2 are learning to understand and answer different sequencing questions. They were set a daily challenge to read a poem called The Village Green then use the sequencing skills and tips to answer sequencing questions. They did amazing!

The children have been busy in school and at home, designing and making an Arctic or an Antarctica scene for our current topic, Ice Explorers! They were asked to use recyclable materials where possible and use a variety of art medias that they had in school or at home. So far, the ones completed, are looking amazing!
This week in Geography, the Year 2's have been learning to compare the geographical features of 2 different places in the world. We looked at the Arctic and the UK. They also used some geographical vocabulary to describe other features like cities, villages and towns.
This term, the Year 2's have been learning to write a diary. We worked together to write Percy's diary from the story, One Snowy Night but then the children put their diary writing skills into practice by writing their own diaries. They chose a different character from the story One Snowy Night and write a diary from the viewpoint of that character. Read some of the amazing diaries from the Inventors and see what you think! This week's artist is Georgia O'Keeffe, an American artist known for her close up paintings of flowers and landscape pictures. This week's art challenge was to follow step-by-step instructions on a landscape picture. I think the children have done amazingly!
