Oh no, the Queen's handbag has been stolen! Don't worry, The Navigators are here! We became police officers for the morning, looking for clues around the school to help us to find out who our suspects are. At the minute we have 5 potential suspects but we still don't know who has stolen the handbag. We will find out though!! On Red Nose Day, the children had great fun designing and creating a new red nose. They used fondant icing to make their new red nose design and placed it on top of a bun. They also came to school wearing red with crazy hair. Ella was the class winner for the craziest hairstyle!
On Thursday, the year 1 children had their Inspire Morning based around our current topic; Castles, Kings and Queens. We had great fun making shields, building and testing catapults, drawing famous UK landmarks, drawing self-portraits of famous kings and queens, building castles using 3D shapes, solving royal related fraction problems, reading topic and science books, creating castle pictures on the computer, creating human body pictures using art straws, writing instructions on how to catch a dragon and playing different phonics games. The children and all the adults that came, had a great time!
On Thursday, the children celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as their favourite book characters. We had a costume parade and did lots of book sharing and work based around our favourite books and character costumes. Come and have a look at us all dressed up!
In Maths, we have been learning how to find 1/2 of 2D shapes and objects. On Tuesday it was pancake day so we used pancakes to help us to investigate finding 1/2 of concrete objects. We had to make sure that each 1/2 of the pancake, had an equal amount of sweets and chocolates. Come and have a look at our slideshow! In Science this half term, we are learning about the human body. We started the topic by labelling parts of the body that we already know. We had great fun sticking post-it note labels onto our partners. Come and have a look.
In R.E we looked at the history of St David's Day and how it is celebrated in Wales. We collaged the Welsh flag for our St David's Day display. In Maths this week, we have been learning the names and properties of 2D shapes. We even used different 2D shapes to create castle pictures. Come and have a look.
