THE NAVIGATORS
Year One
Miss Marsland
In Science, we have been looking at seasonal changes. We decided to walk around school grounds spotting different signs of Spring. In Literacy, Year 1 have been writing fact files about foxes. This afternoon we decided to have a go at drawing a baby fox! We followed the instructions step by step to draw the baby fox. Here are our drawings... Today was Year 1's class assembly. They all did AMAZING! I am so proud of all of them and I'm sure all grown ups are too! Thank you for the wonderful costumes and face paint. They all looked brilliant. We are really enjoying our topic Amazing Animals so we hope you enjoyed learning what we have been getting up to! This week in Maths, we have been comparing length and height. We even ordered ourselves from tallest to shortest in each group! After, we began measuring different things around the classroom using cubes! For World Book Day 2020 we got to dress up as our favourite book character or in our comfy PJs! We all put in a lot of effort and we looked AMAZING! The hall transformed into a bedroom and we got to read with our favourite blankets, cushions and we even sat in tepees! In Year 1 we read Elmer the Elephant and talked about what the story meant. We decided to create our own Elmer and decorate with different colours. Later we read different books in a story circle. In Science we have been looking at what different animals eat. We have learnt all about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. We worked in groups to put the correct animals into the correct groups.
In Year 1, we love to play different phonics games! We especially love snakes and ladders, trash and treasure & catching phonics fish! |
