Miss Marsland
The children in year 1 have started paired reading this week. They took it in turns to read a text, then they worked together to answer questions about the text. They had to find the answers and underline them together.

As part of the Anti-Bullying Week, each class have created a bullying/friendship display outside or inside their classroom. The year 1 children created a superhero themed display telling everyone why they are a superhero friend. Come and have a look!
In P.E we have been learning a cheerleading dance. We used pompoms and scarves to make the dance look better. Some of the children even led the dance!
Year 1 started Anti-Bullying Week off with some role-playing. The children worked in small groups to act out a bullying scenario. They had to think about how their character was feeling, what their character was thinking and try and show some expression through their body language. We had some great acting skills!
Last week the year 1 children were learning to write character descriptions using adjectives. Here are just some of the fantastic character descriptions that the children wrote about Winnie the Witch. Abigail's wonderful character description. Isabella's wonderful character description. Isobelle's wonderful character description. Blaise's wonderful character description. Ethan's wonderful character description.
The Year 1 children had a fantastic time at their Inspire Morning. They investigated flowers in the science area, practised their cursive handwriting in the literacy area, played some number bond games in the numeracy area, shared some books in the reading corner, explored the atlas and the historical toys in the topic area, played some phonics games in the phonics area, made some Victorian houses in the art area, constructed trains in the construction area and even followed instructions to made a traditional jam sandwich on their own!
