We worked with a partner to do some instruction writing. We had to follow, give and write instructions whilst our partner made a polar bear out of fondant icing. We then swapped roles so we both made an icing polar bear. We did an amazing job, come and have a look!
We have been creating some Nativity scene pictures in R.E/Art. We created the background by colour mixing and using different brush strokes to create effect. We will post the final pictures once they are dry and finished!
We worked with our maths investigation partner to solve subtraction word problems. We used different methods including practical, pictorial, number lines and 100 squares. We had to put everything that we have learned about subtracting into practice!
In year 1 we are learning how to stay fit and healthy with the Change 4 Life programme which is ran by Andy. We are playing lots of team games that build up our agility and co-ordination and help us to stay fit and healthy. We are also learning about our diet and how to eat healthy. We are having great fun!
Year 1 have been learning how to ride a bike using the balance bikes. Dave and Paul have been really supportive with the children and have encouraged them to ride a balance bike using just their feet to push off and their balance to stay on the bike. It was great fun and even the teachers had a go!
Thank you to those parents and carers who gave up their time to come to the year 1 'Ice Explorers Inspire Morning.' We had lots of fun building igloos, painting Arctic animals, reading and writing facts about the Arctic and the Antarctica, investigating lots of different number problems and using the construction material to build a new habitat for an Arctic animal. Come and have a look at how much fun we had!
We have been really lucky to have a coach in called Luke Rodgers to teach the year 1 children some Archery. We started by playing target practice games before we were shown how to hold a bow and fire an arrow at a target. By week 4, we were getting so good, we managed to hit the target and score some points for our team. Have a look at our slideshow to see what we have been doing! To celebrate Friendship Day, we came to school wearing odd socks to signify how we are all different. We spoke about the importance of being different and how we need to respect those differences. Come and have a look at our odd socks! |
